What moves the price
- Ceiling obstacles. Ducts, beams, and pipes that have to be boxed or rerouted.
- Plumbing. A bathroom far from the main stack or below the sewer line needs an ejector.
- Moisture. Fixing water issues first is cheaper than tearing out a finished room later.
- Egress. Any room used as a bedroom needs a code-compliant escape window.
- Finish level. Flooring, lighting, millwork, and bars are where budgets expand.
